Today marks the first day of Lent. Lent is a season of reflection, renewal and refocusing our lives to God. A lot of times the hardest part of lent is where to start. Here are a few suggestions.
This year at First United Methodist Church of Locust Grove I am asking people to read through the Psalms with me. You can find a guide to that right here.
If you are looking for something else I would call your attention to what Zach Bechtold and I at BeardedTheologians have put together called the 40 days of Beardedness it will post live to our blog www.beardedtheologians.com each day or you can download the whole document here.
The United Methodist Church offers this awesome Lent Photo-a-day meditation to try. You can find out more about it here.

There are many ways you can practice Lent. These are just a few ways. I hope you make Lent a spiritual time of reflection, renewal and refocusing to draw you closer to God and not something that you do just as a showy practice. Jesus talks about showy religion in Matthew 6.
Peace be your way,
MF
