One of the connections to my Native American heritage that I love to do is putting on my regalia and dancing. It connects me to family and traditions that have been around for a long time. One of the traditions we have kept over the years is that when a family member passes you do not dance for a year. This summer I did not dance at the Stroud to honor this tradition. In honor of my mother who had passed in March.
On October 22nd in Tulsa, Ok there will be the Walk to End Alzheimer’s I will not be walking this year. I can’t, I am not there yet. It has been a little over 6 months since mom had passed and I am just not ready to be there. Just like I found some peace not dancing this year. I expect to find peace in taking time for me to continue to heal.
However, my sisters will be walking and have a team (Pam’s Turtle) setup ready to go. Please donate to their cause and help them reach their goal. Click this link to donate to them. http://act.alz.org/site/TR?fr_id=9243&pg=team&team_id=367001
