Cancer Awareness Sunday

In the Church we have a lot of Special Sunday’s. One that we did this Sunday at First United Methodist Church of Locust Grove this past Sunday was Cancer Awareness Sunday. Cancer is something that most people have to deal with at some point in our lives. The church must respond and let those who are on a journey with cancer know that they are cared for.

This year we dipped our toe in the water. We told the congregation to wear red or pink and let’s have a pink out sunday. (Much like they do at the local high school sporting events) Most of the congregation showed up. We had a simple Litany that I wrote. It was simple and very powerful. I pray that more congregations take at least one Sunday to show support for those dealing with cancer.
