Matthew 14:16-18 Common English Bible (CEB)
16 But Jesus said to them, “There’s no need to send them away. You give them something to eat.”
17 They replied, “We have nothing here except five loaves of bread and two fish.”
18 He said, “Bring them here to me.”
Bring them here to me, words that pierced my heart as I was reading this scripture reading this morning. Jesus looks at the disciples and gives a simple request.
“You give them something to eat.”
How often are we placed this command in our hearts give them something to eat. It may not be food, it may be some form of assistance that can feed the person in some way shape or form. God is calling us to help those who need something to eat. Are you like the disciples?
“We have nothing here except five loaves of bread and two fish.”
To me the disciples are trying to play that we won’t have enough, so let’s not give them anything card. How often do we miss an opportunity because we feel that we don’t have enough? This next summer will mark my 10 years of being involved in Camp Ministries in the Oklahoma conference. The first year i was asked to go to camp I felt that i did not have what it takes, i did not have enough. I had never been to a Church camp, i was still young in my faith but yet i went and brought what little i had to camp. My life was changed, what little gifts i had were used and i found out that i had more than enough to help and be an asset to the camps i helped with.
Jesus is calling us to bring our selves to help feed the people, are you ready? Jesus words to the disciples,
“Bring them here to me.”
Are calling us to come and be used by God to help feed the people. Are you willing?
Peace
