Focusing is half the battle, Go Joe. Psalm 14
- Right now as you read this stop. Take a breath and focus on your breathing for one min.
- Now take a look at Psalm 14 NRSVU
14:1 Fools say in their hearts, “There is no God.” They are corrupt; they do abominable deeds; there is no one who does good.
14:2 The LORD looks down from heaven on humankind to see if there are any who are wise, who seek after God.
14:3 They have all gone astray; they are all alike perverse; there is no one who does good, no, not one.
14:4 Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers who eat up my people as they eat bread and do not call upon the LORD?
14:5 There they shall be in great terror, for God is with the company of the righteous.
14:6 You would confound the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge.
14:7 O that deliverance for Israel would come from Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, Jacob will rejoice; Israel will be glad.

My Reflection:
Do Good…
How hard is it to do good? I wrestle with this a lot. When we talk about how to make things around us we have to embody an attitude of doing good unconditionally. When was the last time you did good for someone you knew needed something good without any conditions? My ethic is do good, do no harm, love God. This at times can get me into trouble.
When covid hit, i could not have inperson worship because I felt that early on during the pandemic we would be putting people into harms way to come and worship. I would never say we were closed, in fact i would say we are operating differently because for us to do the most good practicing what was being suggested provided the most good and least amount of harm. We still did a lot as a church it just looked different. Sometimes we need to adapt.
As I get ready for Sunday I am preaching on the Movie the Lion King so I am immersing myself in the sound track. I found the circle of life fitting because if keep doing all the good we can to all the people we can we make a great circle.
4. Now take another deep breath and let the Holy Spirit in to work on you and through you.
