With a historical General Conference coming. Here are some reasons why I am staying UMC. Not in any particular order just came up with a list while waiting for my kid to finish track practice.
- Because it is my spiritual home. I feel most comfortable in the UMC. My home UMC church modeled a love for God and everyone that I have carried with me since starting attending the church at 16. Is it a perfect home? No it’s not. But we are moving on towards perfection. So there will be struggles along the way.
- I love the General Rules of the Church
do no harm, do good and stay in love with God. (Reuben Job’s interpretation) - I love the connectional system. UMCOR, VIM, our Hospitals, our Universities our Missionaries, our Clergy and laity are all connected in some way or another to build the kindom here and now.
- I love our understanding of Grace.

I am sure I could come up with more. But my kid is done with practice. Now off to the next thing.
