What kind of pace do you like to keep in life?
A fast pace move from one thing to the next?
Or a moderate pace taking time to enjoy the moment or moments? Both are necessary in life. But we prefer one.
As for me: I love taking time to enjoy the moment. Some of my favorite adventures I have taken Have been with no plan just going with it.
Nevertheless, I know there are times when I have to be fast paced because a decision needs to be made and there are people depending on me to act not just sit back and take it all in.
This discernment can be rough. Be open to your preference but be aware of how you need the other pace at times. Knowing the balance takes practice but when you figure it out man it makes a huge difference on our journey.
Today’s focus verse is “we will not fear, though the earth give way.”
Today when reading Psalm 46 and looking at today’s page I have found myself thinking about what can we do to Be Still and know God?
We should not fear God, and open ourselves up to where God needs us to be. Far too often we turn away from God because of fear. So I turn you to 1 John 4:18 NRSV “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love.” Don’t scared of God who loves and cares for you. Come to God fully be present, be still and get to know God’s love. That has the power to transform.
Peace be with you,
For the next 28 days the people of @TahlequahUMC are practicing being still to know God. During this journey I am going to do my best to blog about it.
Today’s Focus Psalm 46:1
Today was a little nutty in the office at Tahlequah UMC we had an over abundance of help to do some work at the Church for MLK service Day. But after lunch things the dust and cleaning supplies settled and I took to the devotional today.
One of the questions hit me good. Where do you need God’s help? My prayer is that with the Special General Conference that is ahead of the United Methodist Church that it opens itself up to God being a very present help in the difficult situation we find ourselves in.
The UMC is the place where I was called worthy where other Churches did not see me as such. So as we inch closer to the Special General Conference I pray… for God to be the help we need.
Grace and Peace
